Cassandra Al Warda is one of the most popular exponents of Middle Eastern dance in Northeast Ohio. She found a love for Middle Eastern music when she was just a teenager. This love continued through college, where she took her first belly dance class.
Cassandra has continued to study with some of the world’s greatest dancers, nationally and internationally. After over five years of training, Cassandra made her professional debut as a solo belly dancer.
She began teaching belly dance classes in Beachwood, Ohio in 1995 and founded the “Wind and Sand Dance Company”. She keeps a regular weekly class schedule and hosts annual dance workshops, now considered one of the largest in the US. Her repertoire is comprised of traditional Raqs Sharqi and aspects of modern American Belly Dance. Cassandra is dedicated to promoting the art form in a manner that is beautiful, exciting, and suitable for all audiences. It is her belief that educating the general public through performance and instruction will foster a better understanding of the dance and its Middle Eastern heritage.
Cassandra has been a featured performer at many of the local area establishments including: Kan Zaman, Niko’s on Detroit, Darna, Anatolia’s Café, Taza, Red Square, Mercury Lounge, Club Anatamoy, Layalena’s and more… She has graced the stage at The Palace Theater, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, House of Blues, Pickwick n Frolic and Cleveland Public Theater. She has performed with the Belly Dance Super Stars and Oojami and opened shows for the Arabic singing stars Melhem Baraket, Fares Karem, Marwan and Moein Shreif. She has danced for celebrities, political figures and royalty. She has made appearances at numerous weddings and private parties locally and in various cities around the US.
